Early In Life

Leah Brighton followed the traditional path that we've all been told to follow -- study hard, get a degree, and work until you retire.

She completed her undergrad, and then masters in Speech-Language Pathology. Though life as a clinician was incredibly meaningful, she wanted more. Ultimately, she found out this "golden path" is now a lie in the world we live in today.

Even though everyone was telling her she was crazy for quitting her job and moving across the country to start a new career, that's exactly what she did to work as a policy advisor in the federal government.

After 4 years, she realized that there was still more ways to expand and grow. And, ultimately this led to her career in recruiting and now career coaching.

This was not the path that was told to her in school. It was one that she's learned by ignoring the mainstream message for the "only pathway to success."

Now, Leah is on a mission to help others also learn the secrets for how to break from free from the traditional pathway that traps people in careers and lives they hate.

Giving Back

Leah grew up in an orphanage in South Korea. She was adopted by a family in Canada at 4.5 years old. She grew up camping in the summers, swimming in the Pacific Ocean, and playing tennis.

It wasn't until she was in her 20s that she started to learn more about her culture and history. After reuniting with her birth family, and connecting with fellow Korean adoptees around the world, she saw firsthand just how important a community was for learning, belonging, and personal growth.

This led her to form Canada's first non-profit organization by adoptees and for adoptees, the Asian Adoptees of Canada. Members are of Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese descent and it serves to provide a space for international adoptees to connect, learn and grow.

She had hired and coached folks at every stage of their careers, from fresh-faced newbies to managers, directors, and top-tier executives.
